Microsoft Azure Data welcomes Data Platform Summit attendees

I am extremely honored to be delivering the keynote next week at the Data Platform Summit (DPS) in Bangalore. DPS is one of the events that I am looking forward to participating in as it will provide me with a pulse on data and analytics in the Asia Pacific region. More importantly, the event gives me a chance to connect with you — our customers, partners, and overall community.

As a preface, I want to share with you some of the exciting work happening on the Azure Data team at Microsoft and invite you to take a closer look. It is no secret that today’s mobile-first, cloud-first world is evolving to the intelligent cloud and intelligent edge, the new frontier for computing and data management. And IT decision makers and developers are at the forefront, driving this evolution.

We see three key trends that are defining and shaping the evolution of data management.

First, data continues to grow exponentially and it’s not stopping any time soon. The explosion of data creates an urgency to deliver insights. Second, the rate of cloud adoption is increasing. Investments in public cloud technologies drive the need to collect data and innovate further at a

How Microsoft Azure Stack means transformation and opportunities for partners

We are a few days away from kicking-off Microsoft Inspire 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is an event I look forward to every year. This year however is a special year to celebrate the momentum we have with our partners for Microsoft Azure Stack. At Microsoft Inspire 2017, we had a couple of sessions for Azure Stack. They were both completely full, including the overflow rooms! I thought I would take this moment to reflect on our first year of launch and share a quick view on the opportunities ahead.

A year ago, we announced the general availability of Azure Stack, with the vision that Azure Stack is an extension of Azure and enables a truly consistent hybrid cloud platform. Including the ability to decide where applications and workloads should run whether it be cloud, on-premises datacenters, or at the edge. In fact since launch, we have seen some amazing scenarios where customers are using Azure Stack in remote, often disconnected, environments to deliver value to businesses and communities. And, our partners have been instrumental in unlocking such new possibilities for customers.

For example iMOKO, New Zealand’s digital health charity, decided to use Azure Stack to make their

Microsoft from GeekWire Cloud Tech Summit: New Azure innovations will advance the intelligent cloud and intelligent edge

Today, I gathered with the tech community in the Seattle area at the GeekWire Cloud Tech Summit to talk about how customers are using the cloud and what the future holds. I joined GeekWire’s Todd Bishop and Tom Krazit on stage for a fireside chat to share more about Microsoft’s vision for emerging cloud innovation, but I also got to connect with many of you directly. In those conversations, it became even more apparent just how many of you are turning to the intelligent cloud to explore how emerging innovation like serverless, blockchain, edge computing, and AI can help you create solutions that can change your business — and people’s lives.

At Microsoft, we’re continually releasing technology that’s inspired by our customers and what you tell us you need to make the intelligent cloud and intelligent edge a reality for your businesses. For example, you may need to build applications to work in remote areas with low connectivity. Or you need to store, access, and drive insights from your data faster because of competitive pressures. And, you need confidence that your data and applications will be secure, resilient, and highly available across the globe.

Silicon development on Microsoft Azure
Silicon development on Microsoft Azure

This week at the Design Automation Conference (DAC), we look forward to joining the conversation on “Why Cloud, Why Now,” for silicon development workflows.

Cloud computing is enabling digital transformation across industries. Silicon, or semiconductors, are a foundational building block for the technology industry, and new opportunities are emerging in cloud computing for silicon development. The workflows for silicon development have always pushed the limits of compute, storage and networking. Over time, the silicon development flow has been greatly expanded upon to handle the increasing size, density and manufacturing complexity of the industry. This has and continues to push the envelope for high performance compute (HPC) and storage infrastructure.

Azure provides a globally available, high performance computing (HPC) platform, that is secure, reliable and scalable to meet current and emerging infrastructure needs with the silicon design and development workflow based on EDA software.

Compute: Silicon development is compute and memory intensive. At times, it utilizes up to thousands of cores, demands the ability to quickly move and manage massive data sets for design and collaboration. Azure customers can choose from a range of compute- and memory-optimized Linux and Windows VMs to run their workflows. Storage: Azure Storage offers multiple
